I recently had the opportunity to tour Eritex's machining shop right here in Omaha, Nebraska - yes we do more than corn. After only seeing pics here and there on RCCrawler.com I didn't know what to expect, but I was impressed. Eritex, AKA Erikson Beadlocks, was one of the first companies to offer premium aftermarket beadlocks to rock crawlers, but the company took a brief hiatus whenGerame Erickson, the owner, blew out a knee. Now the company is back in full production and kicking out stellar Delrin/Aluminum beadlocks in various configurations in 2.2 and 1.9 sizes.

At only $80 for a set of four ($39.99 per set of two), I picked up a set of the heavy competition beadlocks to start thrashing. Why drop the money on higher end wheels now that Axial, Pro-Line, Tamiya, and others offer beadlocks? Easy; weight, reliability and durability. Beadlocks like Eritex's are about three times the weight of less expensive beadlocks which will greatly improve traction. The Eritex beadlocks will hold the tire bead tighter, and are nearly indestructible. In the case of the Eritex beadlocks, these will probably be the last set you will ever need to buy.

I was impressed with the excellent packaging, precise CNC machining, and that each screw hole was perfectly pre-threaded. Having stripped the threads on more than a couple beadlocks, I was stunned when Garame told me he used his Dewalt drill to assemble his wheels with an intermediate clutch setting. No inexpensive wheel would survive this assembly process, however the super tough Delrin will keep taking a beating and is just as tough as aluminum. Although beadlock design isn't rock science, it's nice to know Eritex offers an outstanding made in the USA product at a very affordable price.

Highly recommended for anyone who has an Axial Scorpion crawler kit.

Long-Term Update

Now that I have been using these for almost six months, I can say these are my favorite beadlocks of anything I have tested. They assemble easily with any tire (something that can't be said of other beadlocks), they are relatively inexpensive, and I still have not stripped a single screw.
